Travel consultants and journalists from Singapore and Thailand participated in a famtrip program initiated by the Tourism Ministry to Banyuwangi and Surabaya in East Java from April 30 to May 5.
Among the activities included in the famtrip were a Banyuwangi city tour; a visit to the De Djawatan Forest in Benculuk, Cluring; exploring Osing village to learn about the history and traditions of East Java; hiking the mountains of Ijen and Bromo; and visiting the Majapahit International Travel Fair in Surabaya.
Twenty-five operators took part in the famtrip, which aims to provide an overview on Bromo-Tengger-Semeru tourist destinations and its surroundings, especially those suitable for adventure enthusiasts.
“This event also functions as a networking space with the representatives of the Indonesian tourist industry,” added the ministry’s director for marketing development zone I regional I, Dessy Ruhati, in a statement. (sop/kes)
