(CNN) – We’ve all seen it: in any other case, a remarkable inn receives a one-star Yelp or TripAdvisor score from a grumpy visitor due to a terrible climate.

Even though there is nothing a destination can do to ensure a perfect climate in the course of the holiday season, the Italian island of Elba — satisfactory regarded for being in which Napoleon was exiled towards the end of his lifestyle — has a brand new program called “Elba No Rain,” where guests at the island at some point of May can get their night’s hotel charge refunded if it rains.

According to Elba’s reputable tourism web page, “the overnight life is loose for days while there may be rainfall for more than two hours between 10 a.m. And eight p.m.”

To qualify for the deal, guests must stay at one among an accepted listing of nearby inns and guesthouses that might be participating in the program.

“Tour operators inform us that climate forecasts of a wet weekend can cause a drop in bookings and attendance of over 20%,” Claudio Della Lucia, tourism coordinator for the island, advised CNN through electronic mail.

“The #ElbaNoRain initiative wants to be a concrete warranty to guests that, in the sporadic case of an afternoon with consistent rain, they could nonetheless enjoy the whole lot the island offers without paying a euro for lodging.

“It’s a pilot mission for May; however, considering the numerous subscriptions, we’re considering using it additionally for the autumn.”

May tends to be shoulder season, so it’s usually cooler and less crowded than at some point in the summertime. Unfortunately, with no connection to the actor Idris, Elba is famous with Italian residents, who flock there in August.

Elba is located off of Tuscany, one of Italy’s most famous vacation regions, within the Ligurian Sea, just east of Corsica.

Most visitors arrive there by ferry from the coastal metropolis of Piombino. However, an island airport could soak small planes from Milan, Florence, Pisa, and other Italian towns.

So, what’s there to do even as you experience that assured fabulous climate?

The island is beloved for its beaches, but it’s also worth touring the Napoleonic Residences. The emperor lived in exile and explored the island’s mining records and historical ruins, some of which date to Etruscan technology.
